Icon meme

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] hinikuish and [livejournal.com profile] regann.

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.

Paine, from FFX-2. I commissioned this icon from [livejournal.com profile] iamleaper, along with a few others (including Auron, Young and Old, the userpic for "A Guardian's Legacy" and one of my very favorites). I am very fond of Paine. She got me started on fanfic. A whole lot of you wouldn't know me without her.

My writing icon. One of the few that I made myself. (You can tell because of the crappy text.) The quote is from Balzac. I may be more of a slave to keyboard and screen, but you get the idea.

Lexi as a demonic kitty. This was one of the first photos I took of him, and it caused quite a stir when I posted it in my journal. Made by [livejournal.com profile] grue23. The text says "(innocent)".

Gippal, Nooj, and Baralai, also known as the Crimson Squad. Another one by [livejournal.com profile] iamleaper. Paine's compatriots, who often figure heavily in my writing. I wanted an image of the three of them together and I like the colors and composition of this one.

A Harry Potter quote, said by Dumbledore, I think in Sorcerer's Stone at the opening assembly scene. I tend to use it when I feel like evoking randomness. Ganked, as most of my literary icons are, from [livejournal.com profile] book_icons.

Another [livejournal.com profile] iamleaper commission. This is the "official" userpic for DSHnD.

My San Francisco Giants icon. Pictured is Omar Vizquel, shortstop extraordinare. I'm a serious baseball fan and the Giants are my team. I also like using this icon for congratulatory moments generally. I made this one. It was my first real attempt at framing.

"Why do you write these strong women characters?" Excerpts from a fantastic speech by Joss Whedon about feminism and equality and women in fiction. I highly recommend watching the whole speech; it can be found on YouTube. Found by surfing from [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology. My only animated icon.

Tori-Cat. T took the picture; I made the icon (just a crop job, no changes to the coloring or anything). It's one of my favorite photos of her. I love the dramatic lighting.

Nooj, from FFX-2. My most recent acquisition, made by [livejournal.com profile] hinikuish. Another favored character as well as half of my OTP. It's a lovely image, from what be my favorite screenshot of him.

This ended up being really FFX-2 heavy. Given how high a percentage of my icons are from the games, I guess that shouldn't be a huge surprise, but I still have this feeling that it's not really representative of "me". I mostly have so many because I like having lots of different characters and moods for replying to fandom-related posts. I also wish I were better at making userpics. Downloaded new image software over the weekend, on SE's recommendation; maybe I'll be tempted to play with it more now.
