So you've probably all heard by now that Robert Jordan, writer of the never-ending Wheel of Time series, has passed away. I never read any of the series, but I feel for all of you who'll never really know how it would have ended.

Is it bad that my first thought was "damn, if that happens to George R.R. Martin, I think I may keel over and die"? He'd better have a detailed written outline somewhere, is all I'm saying.

After a long and difficult illness. I'm not sure of the details.

I think your mom will be in good company. Sounds like there's a lot of stress about what will happen with the next book.

Will there be another book if he's died? Or was it already partly, mostly or completely written?

From what I hear, the 12th and last book was in progress but not finished, but he dictated outlines and some of the text to his wife. So it should appear eventually. Whether they go the Dune route and keep the series going after his death, I don't know.
