Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

I didn't have any predictions really, so I can't say. I will say I wrote many more individual pieces than I thought. And the collaboration ended up being much longer than I thought it would be.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006?

Pairing: Rikku/Nooj. Such an unlikely pairing on its face, and then I got sucked into writing three stories about it and I really enjoyed doing so. Honorable mentions: Beclem/Chappu and Nooj/Clasko???
Genre: AU. (See below)
Fandom: No surprises there. Still may branch out someday (FFXII is somewhat tempting) but no plans to do so at this point.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

That's a hard one. I look back on so many of these with such fondness. I guess if I absolutely have to pick, I'd say "Captivated" and "Separated" because the ideas that went into them are so interesting to me and I thought that came through well.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

DSHnD. Going so deeply into AU and working collaboratively were both excellent challenges for me. I also did request memes for the first time ever and I found the process of taking other people's suggestions and turning them into stories fascinating.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Finish up my WIPs, definitely. Also get back into writing longer fic. With chapters, even!

From my past year of writing, what was...

My Favorite Story:
"Captivated"

My Best Story: How am I supposed to pick this one? You tell me. ;)

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: In terms of FF.net hitcount? Probably "Salvage". Everything gets about the same number of reviews (2-3 on average), so by that measure it's hard to say.

Most Fun: DSHnD and the Paine/Nooj/Rikku triangle series, because they were written collaboratively and that's such a blast.

Most Disappointing: None, really. I think if anything had come out that badly, I would have scrapped it.

Sexiest: "Desert Cold". First NC-17 fic ever.

Story with a Single Sexy Moment: DSHnD (first NC-17 chapter ever)

Hardest to Write: Probably "On the Ice". Some of the drabbles were hard, too. I wouldn't say doing drabbles was "risky", but being that concise doesn't come naturally at all.

Most Unintentionally Telling: I don't think any of them were, really. Actually the fact that I was so immediately and completely sucked into writing the P/N manifesto may fit this answer the best!

Note: for some reason this entry is a target for comment spammers and so I've had to turn comments off. I don't know why anyone legit would want to comment on a year-old message at this point, but if you have something to say, please feel free to email me. Thanks!
