Daylight is no longer saved

Normally I greet the end of daylight saving time with a bit of sadness. It means the definitive end of summer, for one thing. I've also always found it depressing to leave work in the dark; if the sun is still up when I leave, I can at least preserve the illusion that I have some time left to myself before the end of the day.

But I have to admit, it was awfully nice to be able to see the bowl as I was pouring my breakfast cereal today. I hadn't realized just how much of my morning has been spent stumbling around in the dark lately. So maybe the trade-off is worth it. It's going to be a long, dark drive down to chorus, though.

My current jetlag has given me the same appreciation. Watching the dawn develop is a peaceful experience. Makes me wish (yet again) that I was both a morning and night person.
