Bingo!

The launch of OTW has brought fanfic back into the public Internet eye. Along with that come all the same old tired arguments against fanfic. Which can lead to only one thing:

The Anti-Fanfic Bingo Card!

Coming soon to a Whatever near you. (Scalzi has interesting things to say; he's not completely on board, but I think he could be convinced. Some of the commenters, on the other hand.... Bingo!)

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is go to Lee Goldberg's blog to fill out the entire card.

I love rigid and pedantic definitions of what can and cannot be good art. Everyone knows a story can't be any good unless the main characters appearances aren't described adequately!

Ah, good old "I write Monk tie-in novels but fanfiction is pure eeeeevil!!" Lee Goldberg. :P Yeah, there's someone with a fair and balanced view of fanworks.

Well, of course! Why didn't I see it before? ;) Although I have to say, if Goldberg really thinks that, he can't have spent much time reading fanfic. One of the hallmarks of a badfic is detailed description of the characters' appearance (especially if they have raven hair and emerald orbs).

I have to say, of all the arguments people make against fanfiction, that Golberg quote has to be the stupidest I've ever seen. Literally.
