It's been raining off and on all day, but I think it's pretty clear that the worst of the storm is past us. Certainly nothing like yesterday. So that's good news.

My DS arrived today!! No games for it yet, so to test it I pulled out T's old GBA Zelda card. I died a lot. And I can already tell that I'm going to have to play in small bursts -- the little buttons aren't great on my hands. Playing with a joystick makes a real difference. Which I already knew, really, from playing FFVII and VIII. Once I'm able to use the stylus and mix it up, that should help.

Now I'm off to see if I figure out how to make the wireless work...

You probably already figured this out already, but...

Without the browser cart, the wireless only works by connecting to other DS's or to a Nintendo Kiosk. The browser's a bit wonky and slow, and I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone who has a different option for quick, portable internet access (like a cell phone or such), but I'm glad I have it, for me.

There are lots of great games that are stylus-intensive. I'm a big fan of Wario Ware: Touched in particular.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that was how it works. I actually don't have a cell phone with wireless, so I would like to be able to use the browser. Do you buy the card like a game? Or do you just put in a "wi-fi enabled" game card and that will work for regular browsing as well?

The browser is on a cartridge just like a game. It also comes with an additional RAM cart, so you can actually load websites. You can't actually download stuff permanently as there's no storage beyond the bit of RAM you get with it.

Here's the wiki:

Like I said, I think it was worth it, but it's not without its problems. It's slow. No video, audio or Flash. And everytime you want to connect to a connection you haven't used before, you have to configure a connection which can take a minute or two. Annoying if you're on the go.
