One of the weird things about musicals is that no one in the world of the story seems to notice how weird they are. (Except for "Once More With Feeling".) People suddenly bursting into song for no apparent reason? Shouldn't that be weird and freaky?

Improv Everywhere tests that theory in the groundbreaking production Food Court Musical.

I always enjoy the work of Improv Everywhere, but this has got to be one of my favorites. Watch the video first if you can.

Thanks! That was highly entertaining.

Glad you liked it! If you haven't seen Improv Everywhere's other work, I highly recommend it, especially the Best Buy and Abercrombie & Fitch excursions.

Have you seen 'Enchanted'? I think that typifies your thoughts on how weird it is that people in musicals just randomly break out into song and how silly it would be to do that in real life. It's a brilliant film though.

Yes! I loved Enchanted, largely for just that reason. The big production number in Central Park was great for that.

I loved it when james marsden's character jumped off that low bridge, landed on the floor and began singing then was promptly run over by cyclists. Priceless!
