One of the librarians at work has taken to checking the calendar for fun holidays and anniversaries and announcing them on the whiteboard in the library. This has provided a great deal of amusement in the office. Some recent highlights: the 71st anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, JFK's 91st birthday (that's right -- JFK pre-dates the Golden Gate Bridge; I was also surprised), National Hamburger Day, and, today, Hug Your Cat Day. Aren't you glad I'm here to pass along this very important information?

Aha! I knew there was a reason I was spending the day hugging cats and sneezing from all the shedding.

I do agree with you about the change in policies. Those are very 'grown-up' decisions and I am proud and relieved that we are not to have a smut police state here. Reason rules!
