Gamer geek ahoy!

Earlier today, I was walking down the hallway of my building when I heard some extremely familiar music coming from one of the classrooms. I stuck my head inside -- it was the room where new students are checking into housing -- and looked around, but I didn't see anyone playing any games. So I had to ask. "Is that the Final Fantasy X soundtrack?"

The students seemed very impressed that I recognized it. Either that, or afraid of my utter geekdom. Maybe a little bit of both.

Also, I have a FFIV question! So I think I found the final battle -- I went back to the moon, and I went into the big cave, and I got to what I think is the bottom. Along the way, I got into all the rooms and passageways, and I battled all the dark aeons, and I made my way into the battle with Zeromus. And I died pretty horribly, but that's not the reason I got frustrated and set the game aside for months.

At some point, when I changed level in the underground moon caves (I've forgotten the name of the dungeon; that's how long it's been since I've played), the character thoughts on the menu screen changed, in ways that suggest that I missed some huge cutscene where the Cecil/Rosa/Kain triangle angst got all hashed out. I think it happened when I got to level 4. I don't think I saw a single cutscene from the time I entered the cave until I reached the final battle. There was dialogue before each dark aeon battle, but nothing super-deep in terms of plot. Did I miss something, or am I reading too much into what the characters say? And if I did miss it, can I go back and trigger it, or do I have to start the freaking dungeon all over again?

Also any advice on the final battle is welcome, although if the answer is "level your lazy ass up" I can accept that.

Also also, is there any significance to that face on the moon, or is it just a cool decoration? If there's some way to interact with it, I can't figure out what it is. Or maybe it's for later, but I get the feeling that there is no later. Zeromus really does look to be the final boss.

Dark Matter can be a one-use item, but mostly it just cuts Zeromus's stats massively. It's one of those hidden trick type things. XD

Phoenix is one of...I think FuSoYa's augments? I don't have my guide here with me, but I am pretty sure it's one of the cool ones you get if you feed FuSoYa 3 Augments in total. I can check for further details when I return home.

So you don't need to equip it or anything, it just needs to be in your possession? Interesting.

I'll fire up the game later tonight and check on my status and stuff.

More, it needs to NOT be in HIS possession - it boosts him up something fierce.

Aha. Sneaky!

I have the Bless augment, but not Phoenix, unless you get it somewhere in the moon underground. Playing some today reminded me of the other reason I got frustrated and gave up -- not enough save points in the moon underground. Nothing like beating Leviathan to get the cool weapon and then being eaten by a Behemoth on the next level with no place to save in between. :P

Checking my guide, you would only have received Phoenix if you gave FuSoYa at least 2 Augments before you fought the CPU.

The key with the save points is knowing how to backtrack to the two that are available. Also, the best advice I can give for Behemoths is to cast Blink and Protect on the boys and have them lay smackdown physically, and don't bother with spells because Behemoths have a wretched spell counter.
