Well, this is scary

Sobering "tale from the trenches of science journalism" presented by PZ Meyers. Never has "don't believe everything you read" seemed more appropriate.

I doubt that non-science journalism is any better. Skepticism is a good strategy when reading news articles.

Undoubtedly -- if you read through the comments, there are similar horror stories from journalists in other areas of the press. But science journalism tends to be especially ripe for misinterpretation and misuse by people who don't understand science or scientific jargon.
