Wow!

Mexico City has legalized same-sex marriage.

The bill calls for changing the definition of marriage in the city's civil code. Marriage is currently defined as the union of a man and a woman. The new definition will be "the free uniting of two people."

That is just about the most awesome wording to describe legal marriage ever.

That made me SO HAPPY. I was doubly impressed because if I recall my demographics correctly, Mexico is very heavily Catholic. Way to go, guys. (And I loved the photo.)

Your demographic memory is correct! So yes, it is extra cool. :) Although according to that article, Mexico City is much more liberal than the rest of the country, so who knows how quickly it will spread. On the other hand, Spain is also very Catholic, and it legalized same-sex marriage many years ago.
