St. Crispin is rolling over in his grave. With laughter.

Presumably most of you have heard by now about the awful homophobic retelling of "Hamlet" written by Orson Scott Card. I don't know whether to be happier that I stopped giving money to OSC years ago, or sorrier that I can't yank every penny away now.

On the bright side, it did inspire [livejournal.com profile] scott_lynch to write this brilliant parody of how OSC might re-imagine Henry V.

I saw "St. Crispin" and knew what this post would be about. That made me feel particularly smart today.

I do wonder how OSC's reimagining of The Taming of the Shrew went. Because there's the whole school of interpretation that argues the play is a farce, and this version of Hamlet isn't filling me with confidence...

Exactly! I mean, if you read the entire play ironically, then maybe?

Anyways... this is basically just really, really bad Shakespeare fan fiction, amirite?
