Happy tech toy day

I was growing dissatisfied with the battery and processing speed of my five-year-old laptop, so when T said he could make space in the budget for a new one, I took advantage of the opportunity. I looked at my options and decided that what I really wanted was the same thing, just newer. So that's what I got (with twice as much RAM and a faster processor), and now I'm typing and surfing away in a cafe, stopping every so often to gleefully check on my eight hours of battery life.

Living in the future makes me happy.

Someday soonish this will be me. My laptop's coming up on 7 years old, and while it's certainly functional, the battery is growing progressively sadder and it is very slow with things. (On the other hand, I definitely need to at least finish paying off another credit card before I can even think about a new toy of that magnitude.)

I understand not prioritizing it when you have one that works well enough. I hadn't even thought about upgrading until T mentioned that it would be fine if I wanted to.

i mean effectively I could just go use my desktop, which is a 2011 iMac with truly ludicrous specs (quad-core processor and 12GB RAM; it runs anything without complaint) so even if my laptop does bite it, I'm not screwed. I just like the convenience and ability to drag it around when friends want to do writing sessions or whatever.
