Adjusted again

My employer announced yesterday that our return to office plans have been delayed indefinitely, from "sometime after Labor Day" to "we'll have another announcement in late October." This is fine, except I'd been sort of counting on being able to go into the office in September, when T is planning to redo our upstairs floor (replacing carpet with hardwood). This is a project we were supposed to do last summer and have been talking about for years, so I am reluctant to put it off any further (the carpet is ugly, falling apart, and possibly the source of our long-running moth infestation), but working from home with a construction site overhead is not my idea of a good time. So we'll see what happens.

I'd be so overjoyed to get an announcement like that. I hope you can get the floors put in, though, it sounds great. Zxywvut and I lived in our living room and kitchen for a month or so while we were having all of our bedrooms refloored and painted a few years ago. We had to pack the dining room and parts of the kitchen with all of the stuff from the bedrooms. We did it after Anais died but before we got Patience and Fortitude.

Well, recall that I'll never be forced back into the office if I don't want to. So my situation is a bit different than yours. (Do you have an RTO date yet?) At least for the remodeling work time, it would be nice to have the option. I might still be able to argue for it -- we're allowed to work in the office if it's necessary. Since our condo doesn't really have separate rooms per se, there's no where here I can really shut myself away from the noise and sawdust. How Tori is going to handle the disruption is definitely an open question!

My RTO date is currently 9/27. I am hoping that will be extended; other large firms are extending them. Zxywvut and I will be on vac from 9/10-26. I hope Tori handles it OK!
