"Desert Cold" - new Paine fic

Title: Desert Cold
Fandom: FFX-2
Rating: NC-17 (yes, really)
Wordcount: 442
Pairing: Paine/Nooj
Spoilers: Not really; I suppose you could say minor ones for Paine's backstory
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] 30_fantasies, Theme #10, Ice. A departure for me in many respects, so feedback, including crit, is even more welcome than usual.

"She had expected the desert to be hot, and it is during the day, but the nights are cold, harsh winds sweeping in as soon as the sun goes down, stars glittering overhead like shards of ice."

KJ - I left a comment on this story and saw that another person had done so as well. Now they both seemed to have disappeared. Did you mask them? LJ is acting very strangely these days.

Bizarre. I got both comments in my email, and saw them on the page, earlier this morning. Now I can't even get the page to load. It must be LJ weirdness. Hopefully everything will show up properly soon. Thanks for the heads-up!

(Here is my original comment)

My word! What grand imagery. You have gone into her mind and found her great weakness. This is, as usual, beautifully expressed and superaltively revealing of their relationship. And you did it without dialogue save for that perfectly placed command. Just splendid. *Brava*

(And, yes, it is a bit of a divergence for you. Still It is appropriate to both the theme and the couple.)

Here is yet another oddity. On my FP, there are only three comments in view. Yet when I opened the story in order to make a printout, the others popped up. No, not the ones available on the FP, but the original ones I saw earlier this morning and your response to the review. Something odd is happening here.

I went to Gmail and sent you notes telling you that I had adding the bit I had mentioned to the 'Coda' section. I think maybe LJ ate that for you since you have not mentioned it. Try opening the LJ-cut and see if you can access my comment early this morning. What a nuisance.

I think part of what you're seeing is that the story isn't posted to this page -- it's on an LJ community. My entry on your FList is just a short post with headers and a link.

I got your mail, thanks! There are definitely problems this morning, I got a weird error message when I was posting my response to your review, but it did go through.

Of course! *slaps forhead with metal hand* I noted you wrote it for the community but the penny just did not drop. I obviously need more sleep! I liked it enough to do a printout anyway. ;)
