Fandom silliness

So today's [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology Friday Challenge was to imagine your fandom as a nation. I couldn't resist, and with the help of [livejournal.com profile] bottle_of_shine came up with an answer for FF. Under her orders, I'm crossposting it here.

The Final Fantasy Federation

The Final Fantasy Federation is a loosely allied group of nation-states. The borders are quite porous, and many of its citizens hold dual (or triple, or quadruple) residency. Fighting between the various states is rare, although at times hostilities can erupt between the "Old School" and "New School" alliances. The "Old School" nations, particularly Four and Six, are currently going through a period of rebuilding, and will go to any lengths to attract new residents.

Fights and even wars within individual nation-states are not uncommon. Currently, Seven is undergoing a bitter civil war, with some residents trying to keep the state whole while others are attempting to break it into factions with names like OGC, AC, and DoC, with a few simply escaping into the nearby Kingdom Hearts Republic. Ten went through a similar upheaval a few years back, but it came through the skirmishes mostly intact, with only a few residents banished to DenialofSequeltown.

Two new regions, Twelve and Thirteen, are starting build infrastructure and attract citizens. The borders of Twelve will officially open in two weeks, and many observers are wondering how this will affect the health of the FF Federation as a whole.

So, what did I miss? ;)

XD Oh, this is awesome. You did neglect how One, Two, and Three have been reinventing themselves quite spectacularly and drawing new immigrants in recent years, particularly Three, which is about to unveil its new public-works project and show just how much it can improve on its past.

Oh, and there's the fact that Five attempted to revitalize itself a few years back, but simply backslid into obscurity because it doesn't have the underlying resources of some of the other regions.

Five certainly suffers from a lack of natural resources. Such as a plot. Or more than one interesting character. ;)

I think of One and Two as a part of the Old School Alliance and its rising fortunes. But you're right, I should have included a bit of detail about Three's hoped-for renaissance.

There is also Nine, which has the technology of many in the New School states. but still has the same cultural traditions as the conventional Old School ones, which places it in an awkward position.

Also, there tends to be a polarity between members of Seven and Eight. While many of the citizens enjoy both, popular lore states that citizens of Seven are not citizens of Eight and vice versa.

I mean umm...thanks for the amusement. =D

Ooh, good description of Nine. I've never lived there, but I've been a frequent visitor, and I always thought that tension gives it the best of both worlds. I know not every agrees with me on that account, however.

I admit, I haven't seen much of the hostilities you describe between Seven and Eight, but then I've never resided in either one; maybe the recent infighting in Seven has overshadowed that to a certain extent.

;)
