story update

Part Nineteen of One More Confessional is posted.

Only one more chapter to go, and it is half-written. Unbelievable, that it's so close to being finished.

Unbelievable, that it's so close to being finished.

And that we have persevered. I have just read and reviewed Nineteen. You cannot know how I am dreading the loss of your Paine. She is so three-dimensional and possessed of such decency and dedication. I have yet to see in any other story so fully developed a woman. Damn! I do not want it to be over. I want the four of them to exist in a space outside time, wandering the world, having one picaresque adventure after another, amber-preserved just as they are. For me, this will always be the Summer of the Confessional Quartet. Thank you for playing the game with me.

You are more than welcome. I wish they could stay just as they are, too. Well, that's what AUs are for.

You'll get a little more of Quartet Paine even after Twenty -- the first epilogue is fully drafted and the second is about half-written. A third possible piece is nagging at me, too. And I can't imagine that I'll stay away from her forever; there's too much to write about to leave her entirely behind. So many places the muse can take me.

Oh, I forgot that I meant to answer your question in the review about the dagger. She regrets losing it for both reasons: because it's a quality weapon and because Nooj gave it to her. Interesting that Nooj killed his first man in such a manner, although don't forget that Paine has killed before, at least once.

What a handsome and appropriate pic! Nice choice.

In re the killings: I suspect they each did their first at about the same age. Nooj was thirteen and killed in defense of his group of four. Interestingly enough, it was another group of three males and one female. He has a habit of getting involved in such patterns. He also seems to draw a certain sort of fiercely independent female.

Please write as many more bits about this Paine as you are inclined to write. She is irresistible.

Then how to you explain Leblanc? ;) (That's mostly a joke; except for her incessant sighing over Nooj, she's actually rather a strong woman in her own way.)

I love the graphic, too; it's one of Ry's.

Good question and one I can answer. In my first novel, I made the LeBlanc figure the powerful head of a conglomerate who took a fancy to Anjh(Nooj) and paid for his rehablilition! Hah!

I also did a couple of short stories which mocked her; I had decided I liked Paine better as his lover.

Ry does really good avatars etc. She made the one I am using on this comment.
