27 is up, 28 is done. I'm trying to decide whether to let the latter chapter marinate overnight or to just get it out there. I fear that I'm in danger of over-editing if I let it sit too long, but I don't want to rush it, either -- it's far too key a chapter to be anything less than perfect. (Those of you have been following AGL should have a pretty good guess as to what it's about.) It should go up tomorrow at the very latest.
After all my agonizing about 27, I'm pretty happy with the final result. I really like the Paine/Baralai scene; I haven't done much with the darkness in Baralai up to this point, but I don't think his character is really complete unless you at least touch on that aspect of him. And it connects to Auron's story via the Kinoc thread, so it doesn't seem as out of place as I was afraid it might. (Of course, if any of my readers disagree with me on this point, I'd love to hear why.) I included the Liss scene as a way to close the book on the betrayal revelation; it's time to move on to another part of her story. Not that it will never come up again, but it's been the focus for long enough.
Onward to 29, the chapter I have been most anticipating -- and dreading.
