My collaborators keep praising me for my superior writing speed and then beating me to the punch with wondrous new chapters. This amuses me.

Seven is up and Eight is largely drafted. I wish I could be working on the latter as we speak, I know what I want it to say, but I am at work and it is at home. Alas. Regardless, I have hopes for finishing it tonight or tomorrow morning.

After that, it may be a few days before I have time to write much -- I have a houseguest coming on Friday evening and staying through Sunday night, and she will be in town through Tuesday. At the rate everyone else is going, the rest of story will be finished by then, with Paine languishing many chapters behind! Oh well, there are worse things.

Don't worry about it. Lee and I will be getting together over this weekend, so we'll be occupying each other (and probably bouncing ideas every which way, too), so nothing will likely come of us. It's that sneaky Ikon you need to worry about. ;)

Yeah, but then you'll be so full of plans and ideas that you'll come home and finish writing the entire story before I can even blink. ;)

Mostly, I'm amused by the fact that we all keep commenting on how slowly we write in comparison to everyone else, and yet we're all pretty consistently cranking out about a chapter a day, except for Ikon, and her pace is really only a bit behind that. I'm reminded of college, where we were always talking about how much more work we had to do than everyone else, but really we all had about the same in the end.

Ry wrongs me. I am the soul of honour and have just posted the section I was holding in reserve.

KJ, I was excited to see Seven appear in my Alerts and realize all three of you had done your duty this past twenty-four hours. I only hope the luxury of a week-end off will not dull your enthusiasm for the project.

I am half done with Fourteen and knowing how slowly I write, all of you should feel secure I am not likely to post anything before another week has passed. I am the tortoise to the tri-partite Achilles.

KJ, I have left my review for you at FFN.

I saw the review; thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying the backstory hints, it's a great deal of fun to figure out where to work them in.

I've read your Thirteen three times over already and am still digesting it before I review it formally. But I want to let you know right away that you have picked up exactly on everything I am trying to do with Paine. I asked before if you wanted me to tell you why she wants him; I think I can now safely say that you already know.

As for the other, I am mostly kidding. ;) And I can't imagine anything dulling my enthusiasm for the Confessional project right now.

Thank goodness for that last sentence. I must thank you as well for giving me the key to making Nooj more human, less of the Vulcan/machina creature. You have created a Paine he can permit beneath his shell, one he can consider equal to what he is. Without that special quality in the woman, I would have been at a total loss to let him open up as much as he has. PS: I had fun slipping in his awkwardness about the physical manifestations of his reactions to her.

Yes, I imagine you did. :) Poor Nooj, always wanting to maintain control, so often betrayed by his own mind and reactions...
