chapter up

AGL 39 is up, here.

Most of this chapter, about the first three-quarters, has been drafted for a long time. Months and months. In fact, I believe I wrote it before I even started on my part of The Confessional. So this has been awhile in the making. Compared to most things I write far ahead, this piece has stayed essentially intact -- I added some things and cut one partial scene, but for the most part it is unchanged from the original draft, just tightened and broadened and polished.

The next chapter is also almost finished, and large portions of the chapter following are drafted as well. We may get a few in quick succession here. Then again, we may not, with holidays and travel getting in the way. I'll have to see how my time shakes out.

I have read and reviewed. Amazing how you got it all in so clearly. I think you had fun with this one. ;)

I did. This one and the next. It's my favorite section of the game -- the attack on Home through the battle with Seymour that ends the Bevelle sequence. Perhaps that shows. :)

Big stuff in the next two chapters. I am eager to get them up and yet I will also be sorry when they are finished. Like parting with old friends. Does that make any sense?

You are asking me that? You have read my psalms of joy at some of the things I write and some of the things I learn. I never want to let them go. I want to share them but at the same time clutch them to my bosom and hold them forever. I want to repeat them a thousand times and suck all the sweet juices from every single event. You are asking me? LOL

Yeah, okay. It was a silly question. :)

The bit I'm mainly thinking of, two chapters on, is the third thing I wrote, after rough drafts of the first two chapters. It has been with me a long, long time. Since before I posted my first story. It's going to be really strange not to be able to work on it any more.

It is hard to put out into the world for all to see and throw brickbats at the cherished child of one's creative energies. I am only teasing you. I do understand how empty you will feel to have it, as it were, out of the nest. We pour so much of ourselves into these things - if we are doing them right. I have an almost audible tearing when something I have laboured over is finally shoved out the door. I guess we must simply live with the realization that we are shaving bits of ourselves away when we write seriously. I think it is worth it and so, I suspect, do you. :-)
