Random pairing list!
Inspired by a number of sources, including but not limited to
ithurtsmybrain, the Random Pairing Generator at Seventh Sanctum and the meme that resulted from it, and a similar game from a couple of years back that
kunstarniki told me about once.
This is something I've been threatening to do for awhile, but I never had the time and inclination together. Not like I really have the time now, either, but I wanted to get the idea off the back burner of my brain. So I present to you:
The FFX/X-2 Random Pairing List
Because crack is fun (although some of these might make lovely angsty dark stuff as well). No need to ask; just use them. For fic, art, mockery, whatever. But if you do end up creating something, I'd love a link in comments.
Okay, enough talk. Here's the list.
Belgamine/Logos
Buddy/Clasko
Leblanc/Barthello
Gippal/Elma
Yunalesca/Chappu
Isaaru/Rikku
Kimahri/Bickson
Auron/Maechen
Jyscal/Dona
Jecht/Lucil
Barkeep/Yaibel
Lenne/Yuna (Huh.)
Rin/Mika
Wakka/Nooj
Tidus/Trommel
Wantz/Ormi
Shelinda/Tobli
Braska/Kinoc (Someone must write this. Please? Pretty please?)
Lulu/Maroda
O'aka/Shinra
Paine/Seymour
Shuyin/Baralai (Huh, again.)
Beclem/Calli
Gatta/Nhadala
Pacce/Brother
Luzzu/Cid
This list was created by the thoroughly scientific method of writing down the names of all the major and many of the minor characters from both games (making sure to have an even number), listing them alphabetically, and then assigning each a random number (using a random sequence generator). I reordered them by number, then matched the first 26 with the last 26. Pretty easy, once I got through the work of listing the names. Apologies if I missed your favorite minor character; if people enjoy playing with this, maybe we can do it again with a longer list.

"Kimahri/Bickson". Um, okaaaaay...
"Barkeep/Yaibal". Ew. just ew.
"Gippal/Elma". Now that's one of the few feasible ones...
no subject
Awesome. I had thought that would be one of the more interesting ones.

I could really see a Baralai/Shuyin or Yuna/Lenne fic though, even if my pervy mind wants to twist the idea of posession into places it really shouldn't go.
no subject
No question!
Yes, tons of interesting potential there. I would so love to see what you did with that. :)
Really what I would love to see sometime (and what I've flirted with writing before, and may get more deeply into someday) is Baralai/Shuyin/Yuna/Lenne fic. The game hints at that on the Farplane Glen and then never deals with it.

My friend actually wrote one of these a few days ago. It's only a drabble, unfortunately, but here's the link regardless:

I might try one or two others as well; this is an interesting meme.

short random drabble
It comes one day in-between services and when it does, Wen goes oh.
It's hot in Bevelle. Wen detests the heat; his muscles are prone to plumping when he's not exercising on a regular basis, and either way he's doomed to sweat under his collar. The best he can do is shave his head when the sun gets too much. And then wear a hat.
But for once the temperatures are ignoring him entirely, because it feels like there's ice down his spine and in his face and in his brain, everywhere except for two hot points on his cheekbones, and he can't stop thinking about the Summoner in the front row of the 10:00 am lecture.
The one, he finds out later, that is named Braska.
The person who holds themselves with a calm poise in their robes, and wears their hair long despite the heat. The person Wen thinks is a girl, and then discovers is male, and then discovers that he doesn't care because Braska has the most serene smile he has ever seen before in all of Spira, alive and dead.
Then the other warrior monks tell him that Braska is married to an Al Bhed -- married, has a kid, the whole works -- and it's fine, because Wen can't clear his head of cluttered impressions. Slim hands. Clear eyes. Braska is surreal. Everything that exists in the realm of that Summoner is as delicate as a pyrefly: everything is fine because it exists in a realm he could never compete in, and so he does not have to feel more than a passing jealousy.
Then comes the accident at sea, and Braska is brought back to Bevelle with his daughter in tow, and his eyes have become sadder than anything Wen has seen before either.
Wen wants to comfort that, but he does not know what to do. Braska lives apart from them all; he is untouchable, and that is the way it should be. His mourning makes him even more beautiful, like an exotic bird in a jeweled palace, and Wen watches from afar but knows not to approach.
It starts to fall down the day that Wen discovers that not only had Auron abandoned his duty because he did not love -- I cannot not marry that girl for honor alone, his friend had rumbled back then, and Wen had yelled, because Wen always yelled at Auron when his friend was making stupid decisions -- but that he suddenly became a Guardian for it. And not simply anyone's Guardian. Braska's.
Before Wen even knew there was a chance, Auron had stolen it first.
Re: short random drabble
Okay, first of all, I liked the Auron bit. >> Auron/Kinoc is my OTP, I like to pretend. I like how Kinoc's first impression is "Braska is a girl!" (that part just amused me, though). I like the mental image of Kinoc in a hat. Because I'm picturing for some reason a cowboy hat, not the canon hat thingy. Parron's imagination is overactive.
This is totally the most idioctic review ever, huh? :D Man, now you're making me sad. I'll have to aspire to write crack pairings good like you do. ;__;
Re: short random drabble
I think I honestly did write the 'hat' line with a cowboy hat in mind. I bet he'd look just miserable all hunched over a chocobo in summertime with one of those things.
Thank you. :)
Re: short random drabble
By extension I'm now picturing Cowboy!Auron, which is in ways even better. It could be like >>> Auron IS the Lone Ranger! Kinoc IS Tonto! XDOkay, now I've amused myself more than I should. Ahem."pass approval?" You kidding me? Of course I'm flattered you liked my story, but -- dude -- like -- your stuff is so much better than mine, there's nothing to pass. XD It's a secret, but your old FFX-2 stories were one of the reasons I got into the FFX/X-2 fandom to start with -- so, dude, even the crappiest story you ever could write is better than mine, there's no approval to need passing, you have it by default. >:F
Re: short random drabble
No no, I really liked your Kinoc, and consider it to be a very good study of him. I've never touched on him before, but you have, so I'm glad it looked all right to someone who's handled him well. :)
Re: short random drabble
You forgot to mention Batman and Robin!Alas indeed. The Auron and Kinoc dynamic has always marginally interested me, and the side effect of writing that story is that now it's my secret obsession. XD The more I think about it, the more I like it. Even the sort of tone Kinoc takes around Auron... so friendly. XD "Good to see you, Auron. Ten years, is it?" He's so unintimidated by Auron, which is actually a nice change from the other characters. XD "I heard that..." Oh, you totally don't care about my rambling, although it is really all I'm good for. :D;;...That was the first time I'd ever tried to write Kinoc myself, anyway, so I really shouldn't be praised for it. XD
Re: short random drabble
Secondary characters are so rich with possibilities, I like it when there's exploration done on them. :)
Re: short random drabble
which is a bad idea, really! :F I'll write more Kinoc 'fic if you do, so there....Secondary characters are fun, indeed.
Re: short random drabble
But you should still write him. ;)
Re: short random drabble
Why am I thinking of suicide pacts all of a sudden...?Re: short random drabble
Re: short random drabble
Re: short random drabble
Very excellent line. :)
Re: short random drabble
I am glad it was okay. :)

Re: short random drabble
As I mentioned in another comment, I hesitated around the subject of Braska... then suddenly with the inclusion of Auron, a couple of fun ideas come out of it. :)
Parron is manic today!

I'm hoping to do all of these. 'cause they're just fun, even if they're insane. :D

Plus he has blue hair, so, you know... that absolutely makes sense.
Just like Axel = Elmo.

Yikes. (I mean that in the very best way, of course.)
Oh god, Sora hanging out with Elmo. There's an image.
