Remember NaBloWriMo?

These folks are taking it a step farther.

Much as I like the idea of having a disciplined "write every day" schedule I have a feeling that taking on this one would be setting myself up for failure. But I thought I would let you all know, in case there are souls out there braver than I am.

"His Dark Materials" review

Watching The Golden Compass (see my review, contains spoilers) got me in the mood to re-read the books, and yesterday I finished doing so. They definitely held up on the second reading, and it was interesting to get a better sense of what changes were made for the movie.

The main thing I had remembered about the series as a whole was that the third book didn't work as well for me as the first two. Now I have a much better sense of why, and this review of the series really sums it up for me (the review is overall very positive, and contains a lot of spoilers).

All that said, I still enjoy the series a lot and recommend it to anyone who hasn't picked it up yet. And I look forward to seeing what Pullman comes up with next.
