Something on Sunday: Home Improvement
Nov. 12th, 2017 05:12 pmToday's big news: we ordered a new couch! A sectional that will replace our current sofa and large armchair. The cushions are starting to die, and we made the supreme error of buying white furniture for a space where we lounge and often eat, so it's quite stained. It will look roughly like this, except ours will be a little bigger, and the fabric is a lovely blue-green-gray color. (We didn't get it from the linked store; the place where we bought it doesn't have a picture online.) Since it's going to be custom-built, it should arrive sometime in January.
T bought this place in 1999 and I moved in with him in 2000; since then, we've changed very little except for buying new blinds about five years ago, and replacing the microwave and dishwasher when they died. That's a long time for me to live in one place, so I've been getting itchy feet. To help alleviate that feeling, about a year ago we decided that, rather than go to the trouble and expense of moving, we'd spruce up our existing home. Replacing some of the furniture is phase one. (Phase two will likely be replacing the upstairs carpets, and in phase three we'll tackle the kitchen.) I'm pretty excited to finally be moving forward on this. Pictures in a couple of months, I hope!
