Imposter syndrome
Nov. 15th, 2020 09:29 pmT and I discovered Among Us the way I'm sure a lot of people did: best-of compilations from big name streamers popping up on his YouTube home page. After a couple months of watching, he decided he wanted to play; since neither of us thought playing with randos online was a good idea, and after I'd gotten my feet wet playing with some fandom folks, I convinced some local friends that it would be fun to try. We played last night (for over 4 hours, which is why I didn't get around to posting yesterday), and it was a hit -- everyone is game to play again, and I hope we do soon.
If you're not familiar with Among Us, it's a hidden role game similar to Mafia or Werewolf, where at least one player is an imposter secretly trying to kill everyone else, and it's up to the other players to figure out who it is. But Among Us adds adorable graphics, fun gameplay, and the added twist that everyone is trying to get a spaceship ready for takeoff, so even if you aren't the imposter, you have stuff to do. It's quite easy to learn the basics -- of the ten of us, only three had ever played before -- but there are so many layers to the social aspect of it that I think it would be a challenge to master.
Is anyone else playing, or looking for a game? Hit me up sometime! I'd love to play more.
