Unexpected hiatus

In hindsight, I probably first developed this most recent health issue about a week ago, but it took until the weekend to really force me to start dealing with it. Long story short, I was utterly miserable for about four days, saw my doctor yesterday and she referred me to the emergency room, I had minor outpatient surgery to clean an abscess, and the recovery will take about a month in the best case scenario. I feel much much better now, though, and can even sit at my computer again using a circular pillow we bought for me (seriously, this thing is a godsend).

T pulled up a bunch of the carpet, spent several days filling in low spots with chipboard, screwed down some loose subflooring, and has started to lay some pieces into place. Behold, wood floor in the closet!

The work can be a bit loud and annoying. The worst of it is the saw he uses to cut the floorboards, which is the only sound that sends the cat running. Fortunately I have decent noise-cancelling headphones. I'm guessing at the current rate of work it'll take about another two weeks.

Anyway I have missed you, internet, and am glad to be somewhat back. How are all of you?
