My MacBook has been having problems for awhile, mostly in that it often freezes when I try to put it to sleep. It's one of those intermittent things, where usually it's fine, but then it'll happen three times in one day, and then not again for a month. The warranty expires next month, so I decided it was high time to get it looked at. Yesterday, I took it to the Apple Store and spent some time with a Genius. He poked at it, tried several times to replicate the problem and failed, decided it was probably a software glitch, and sent me home with instructions on how to reinstall the operating system and a few other things to fix up. It took forever, with the time it takes to install an OS and then download a year's worth of updates, but I had hope that it would be worth it.
Then, this morning as I was heading off to work, it froze while I was putting it to sleep.
So I packed it up, took it with me to work, and made another Genius Bar appointment for this evening. And this time they asked me to leave it there for diagnosis, to see if it is indeed a hardware issue. So I'm now separated from my happy shiny laptop. I dragged the Mini out of storage, so I'm still Mac enabled, but it's not the same. I hope it's fixed soon, not least because I'm going to be in San Diego all of next week, and it would be very sad to travel without it. They promised they wouldn't start repairs unless they could be finished by Sunday (there's a couple of weeks left on the warranty when I get back), but it's still a risk. So we'll see.
In other news, I finished PuzzleQuest and am on the last case in Phoenix Wright. I went to EB Games while I was out, but they didn't have PW2, not even used. Too bad; I can still order it, I'm sure, but I was hoping to have it for next week. I did pick up Revenent Wings, though. I don't know how I'll feel about real-time strategy, but I figure I should at least give it a shot.
So, that's me right now. How are you?
