Some of you may have heard about the new fandom wiki, Fanlore. Since this hits lots of my buttons (fun new online tools! organizing the Internet! fandom meta!), I've been looking forward to this launch for awhile, and I have been unable to resist getting involved. (I actually had to talk myself down from volunteering to beta-test before launch.)
So last night, I sat down and (with some help from
bottle_of_shine) wrote up this:
http://fanlore.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy
It's just a skeleton right now, and the only game with its own page is FFVII (because someone already created that one), and this is where the rest of you all come in. I've only been in this fandom for about three years, and my involvement has been largely with one small corner of it. I don't know that much about it's history or its wider online presence. I really want our fandom to be well represented here, but I can't do it alone. So come join me! Make a page for your favorite canon, or fill in the gaps somewhere else, or join in the conversation about how the section should be organized.
So speaking of that, how *should* the section be organized? Is there another macrofandom like Final Fantasy, with multiple unrelated universes? I had thought of Star Trek as a comparison, because not everyone in that fandom is involved with all the canons, but it's still one big universe. Very different from FF, and not everyone outside our fandom understands that. Thoughts?
