Mega Flare progress report
Aug. 29th, 2010 10:17 pmI read through a Revenant Wings script today, to get a better idea of how to integrate the bits of it that I will have to refer to in my
megaflare_ff story, and it turns out that I will have to re-write almost everything I've already done in that vein -- from the summary of the game I'd read, I misunderstood both the timing of the game and the nature of the overarching mission. Fortunately there isn't too much of it, and the changes will actually make it easier to stitch together. So overall it's a good thing, even if I have several grumpy "so much for that scene" moments while I was reading.
It's going okay, I think. Progressing a bit more slowly than I would like, but progressing nonetheless. I'd say I have the first half, or a little more, either drafted or sketched, but the second half is very vague in my mind, and I still don't have clear thoughts on an ending. Which is a problem, considering that I have to turn in a summary in a little more than a week, and I probably ought to have at least a theory about a likely ending. Also, I already have 12k words, which is good, except for how much more I'm sure I still have to go. At least the draft deadline is over a month away.
The good thing is that I feel like I got a handle on Al-Cid pretty quickly. I was a little worried about that, but it seems that his is a voice that is natural to me. And since I'm already comfortable working with both Balthier and Ashe, I am good to go as far as primary characters are concerned. For all my fears about writing in the formal style demanded by FFXII fic, it turns out that I have a lot of fun doing it.
