The moral of October is that I shouldn't give myself a goal in order to make myself do something I'm not really motivated to do. Progress on said goals:
1. Write at least five days per week. Yes, on average.
2. Work on Wardens of Ivalice. Lolnope.
3. Pick an owed gift fic and finish it to final draft stage. No matter how lousy. Then send it to a beta and make it better. I got a few words on one potential gift fic, but it's too similar to another story I was working on (the one that became Going Undercover, so I wasn't inspired at all. Probably will need to rethink that story completely.
4. Post at least twice per week and participate in
ushobwri on a weekly basis. I actually almost made the first half of this (only posted once on the week of 10/11. Not so much with
ushobwri.
So the obvious next question is: what am I really motivated to do? And how do I translate that motivation into getting myself to actually sit down and write? I don't completely know the answer to that question, but maybe following through on my annual November rituals will help. Long-time readers of this blog will know that I don't do NaNoWriMo, but I do participate in some writing projects inspired by it, and those will figure heavily into my goals for the month.
1. Write at least ten minutes every day, per
ushobwri tradition, and check in at least once a week.
2. As I have attempted every November since 2006, post in my journal at least once every day. To that end, I think I'm going to take journaling prompts, which is something I haven't done in a long time. I'll put up a separate post for those later today. Unlike in most months, my daily post does not count toward daily writing (if I counted it, that goal would become pretty meaningless).
3. Write my
dragonagebb story and turn in final draft.
4. Make progress on Wardens of Ivalice or the overdue giveaway fic.
