Another round of DOINK! (aka Final Fantasy Exchange) has come and gone, and although I still have plenty of modly stuff to do, I'm happy to present my gifts, both given and received.

Firstly, my gift from [archiveofourown.org profile] laughingpineapple was a really beautiful artwork of Larsa and Al-Cid, reconnecting their friendship. I think this may be the first time I've ever gotten art as a gift, so that's exciting all on its own!

I only wrote the one story this year, in part because of mod stuff and in part because I'm having issues with concentrating on writing lately. (Also why I haven't been posting much.) A long story, and nothing I want to get into right now, but anyway it kept me from playing around in Moogle Fluff or taking any pinch hits. Hopefully it will all resolve soon. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with my gift to [archiveofourown.org profile] wimblydonner, who requested something about any character reacting to the changes in Spira brought by the Eternal Calm. After noodling around with some ideas, I settled on Dona and Barthello, largely because I've never really written about them before.

Title: Rebuild
Fandom: FFX/X-2
Rating: Mature
Wordcount: ~3400
Characters: Dona/Barthello, Lucil, Nooj
Spoilers: For the end of FFX, and some implied for X-2
Notes: Fits within the continuity of Aftermath, but you don't need to have read that story to understand this one.

Summary: What's a summoner to do when there's nothing left to summon, no Sin left to defeat? Dona begins to search for her own answers.

I've written three fics for challenges this month, and received one stunning piece of fanart, and I've just realized how remiss I've been in crossposting them all.

First, the fanart, because it deserves all the attention:

The Gryphon and the Dragon by [archiveofourown.org profile] sqbr

This is an illustration of Alistair meeting his son, imagined as a gryphon and a dragon respectively, as suggested by my short Bedtime Stories, and it. is. gorgeous. I cannot stop marveling at how well it captures Alistair's character, and the imagery of Dragon Age as translated into a fairy tale. So, so awesome. Go look, really.

And now, for the fics:

Title: Let the Punishment Fit the Crime
Fandom: Dragon Age 2
Rating: G
Characters: Aveline, Isabela, Meredith, Donnic. Aveline/Donnic
Spoilers: Through DA2, Act 2
Notes: Written for the [community profile] dragonagewomen/[livejournal.com profile] dragonagewomen challenge.

After a major upheaval in Kirkwall, Aveline is looking for someone to blame, and Isabela makes a convenient target. Major spoilers for Dragon Age 2, the end of Act Two.

Title: Depend on Me
Fandom: FFXIII
Rating: PG (drug use)
Characters: Lightning, Snow, Hope, Fang
Spoilers: Through Chapter 11
Notes: Written for the 2012 EX Mode round of [community profile] newgameplus, based on two different fics by [personal profile] mako_lies. Both fics had interesting things to say about Lightning, as seen through other people's eyes; I turned this around and told it from Lightning's point of view.

Title: Prisoners
Fandom: Dragon Age: Origins
Rating: PG (demonic possession)
Characters: Templar Drass/Desire Demon
Spoilers: For the Broken Circle quest in DA:O.
Notes: Written for the March 2012 round of [community profile] areyougame. Prompt was "Dragon Age: Origins, any applicable/any applicable: seclusion - Being shut away in the Tower does things to a person’s head." I claimed this with the theory that I would write about Anders, but I couldn't come up with anything that grabbed me and that wasn't fairly DA2-centric. Then a very different idea came to me....

Ser Drass is unhappy with his life in Kinloch Hold, but he has everything under control. He's certain of it.

The solstice has been and gone -- we've turned the corner, and longer days are on the way. A fine reason to celebrate, whatever form the holiday takes.

I'm participating in two DA holiday exchanges this year. I'll crosspost my own contributions later, when they're both finished, but for now I wanted to highlight the two very wonderful gifts that I received. Both are fanart, one is DA:Origins, and the other is DA2.

1. Marian and Bethany Hawke admiring a snow Anders and a snow Ser Pounce-a-Lot, by [tumblr.com profile] ladykleo. A snow Ser Pounce. How adorable is that?! They look so content. And Bethany rocks her holiday robes.

2. Aeducan/Alistair/Anora, by [livejournal.com profile] jessicajones_1, inspired by the series I've been writing about them. Can I tell you just how excited I am to have artwork of my Sereda Aeducan, in Grey Warden armor, and especially in the context of this triad? So, so excited. All three of their expressions are just about perfect, too.

Huge props and thanks to ladykleo and JJ! You have both made my December just a little bit brighter. :)
