owlmoose: (cookies)
As promised, now that I've finished and posted both of my gift fics, here they are! As with the arts, one is DA:O and the other is DA2. Both are holiday-themed and rated G.

Title: The Way to a Woman's Heart
Characters: Alistair/Elissa Cousland, Leliana, Zevran, Wynne
Spoilers: Yes
Notes: Secret Swooper fic for the [livejournal.com profile] swooping_is_bad exchange. Written for [livejournal.com profile] dasque, who requested Alistair/Cousland. Based on an idea that's been rattling around my brain since a [livejournal.com profile] dragon_age Tuesday prompt meme a few weeks, back; that prompt was "You did what?!"

Alistair makes Elissa a gift, with some unexpected results.

Title: Like a Glove
Characters: Fenris, Garrett Hawke, Anders, DA2 cast. Gen, with shades of Anders/Fenris.
Spoilers: Through Act One, and for Fenris's backstory.
Notes: Written for the Tumblr Secret Santa exchange. My giftee was [tumblr.com profile] brelaina. This one was tough for me to get going on, but once I got rolling, I had a lot of fun with it. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] muggy_mountain for helping me bounce ideas around!

Hawke sets up a gift exchange among his friends, and Fenris draws the very last name he wanted to see.

Whew! This was really fun, but now I want to back away from projects for a little while. It feels like I've been on some deadline or another for months on end. ([community profile] newgameplus, [community profile] megaflare_ff, NaBloWriMo, these exchanges, other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.) Time to focus on wrapping up WIPs and playing around in low-pressure prompt communities. Or so I can tell myself, until the next shiny project/exchange comes along...

Take the first line of the first post for each month, and that's your year in review.

January: This final monthly update for 2010 officially rounds out my best year of writing since 2006.

February: Go prompt! Go write! Go enjoy! Go go go! [This was a promo for the FF kiss battle.]

March: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've heard this before. A "firm" publication date for A Dance with Dragons?

April: Copyright is the place where my interests as a fan and as a librarian are most likely to collide, so it's no surprise that I came out of the two talks on the subject I attended this afternoon energized and excited.

May: First, I am participating in the [community profile] newgameplus reversathon!

June: Got behind, so I'll get ahead a little bit today. [Referring to the "30 Days of Final Fantasy" meme.]

July: Even though I've been to New York City many times (I tried to sit down and count the other day, and found that I could not), I still discover new things every time I go.

August: The Porn Battle is on again, and there are many prompts working at my subconscious. [Surprisingly, this is the first post on the list that directly relates to Dragon Age.]

September: That went pretty well. [A monthly writing goals post.]

October: Finished my [community profile] newgameplus story with time to spare; phew.

November: This is something I've been meaning to do for awhile, and the demise of Google Reader as a sharing platform seems as good a time as any. [The list of "what social networking platforms KJ is on; I really ought to write a shorter version of that, make it a sticky, and update it regularly.]

December: Now that I've posted the first part of my Final Fantasy XII/Dragon Age crossover, I wanted to step back a little bit, think about the world I'm creating and how it's going to work.

Pretty accurate, I think. Skipped a couple of writing goals posts. I like doing this meme even when I haven't ganked it from anyone; it's a nice way to wrap up a year. Update: I just checked my archive, and I've done this meme every year since 2005. I guess that makes it officially a tradition...

Heading off for the annual holiday visit to San Diego and T's mom in a few minutes. We'll be back on Wednesday. I'm taking both phone and iPad with me, so I'll likely be around some, although probably more on Tumblr and Twitter than here (easier to navigate using the mobile devices).

Safe travels! Enjoy/survive your family visits, as applicable! A happy holiday to anybody celebrating one, and an excellent weekend to one and all! I probably don't say this often enough, but I love you all: old friends, new friends, friends I've just met, and I'm so, so lucky to be a part of this awesome online community.

All my best, happiest thoughts to you and yours.
