So I might be a little bit into The Avengers. T and I went to see it on Saturday, and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Look at all these awesome people. And their awesome arms (seriously, it is ridiculous). And, um, I might have a ship. Or a couple of ships. I'm seeing it again next Monday with SE so we'll see if they hold up in my mind.

Also, Korra! I am all caught up as of yesterday (with delay on episode 5 thanks to a Tivo incident). And I'm loving it, but I do have one gripe. spoilers )

But otherwise I am quite happy and looking forward to watching the rest.

I was waiting for T to finally finish Season 3 of Avatar: TLA, and he did. So we downloaded the free Korra episodes from iTunes and watched it tonight. Fortunately, it lived up to the very high expectations that had been set for me.

So happy this universe is back! I look forward to seeing the rest of the story unfold.

There is a part of me that wants to jump in with the rest of the Avatar fandom and scoop up every bit of information that I can about this show. Watch ALL the things! Read ALL the things! Speculate about ALL the things!

Then there's another part of me that wants to go into the show knowing as little as possible, having as few expectations as possible. I don't need to know tidbits to get excited about Avatar: Legend of Korra, because I don't think it's possible for me to be more excited! But I don't want to be spoiled, and I don't want to have expectations set impossibly high, or learn things that might annoy me.

So I've been kind of half-scrolling past Korra stuff, and half-looking, and half-longing to take a closer look, and half-wanting to ignore it all. I haven't even watched the latest trailer yet.

I don't know, am I just being weird about this? Should I give in to the squee, or should I stay here in my lonely (mostly) spoiler-free corner?

1. Final Fantasy folks: [livejournal.com profile] muggy_mountain has a modest proposal regarding feedback and remedying the recent lack thereof in our fandom. Check it out, and join in!

2. Avatar fans, or anyone who appreciates awesome television: KORRA. There is a trailer. It is awesome. I might need to watch it another fifteen dozen times.

More info and lots of pictures from the ComicCon panel here. So excited. Is it 2012 yet?

3. I get a weekend! Last week, I did not, so this is much-needed. I kicked it off yesterday evening with a friend's birthday party -- good company, toasted marshmallows, and maybe too much sangria. Today is quality time with T, and tomorrow I anticipate video games, shopping (I need jeans and shoes), and writing. Should be a good time. Hope you all are enjoying yours.

1. It has been a successful long weekend. Friday was entirely lazy -- I slept in, watched some Babylon 5, spent the afternoon writing -- before my concert in the evening. Concert went very well, I thought. Saturday was Dragon Age during the day and then the second concert. It was okay, not quite as good. No mistakes, really, but our energy was way down. Today was dim sum for a friend's birthday, followed by shopping, braised short ribs (which have just come out of the oven and smell delightful), and more Dragon Age. It's been nice mix of laid back, productive, and fun.

2. The writing I did on Friday? A complete draft of my Ex Mode fic. Now that it's written, I need to rethink the beginning, but I'm fairly certain of how I want to fix it, and I'm happy with how it's coming out so far.

3. Speaking of fandom challenges: DOINK! The [community profile] ff_exchange formerly known as FFEX. It's been announced for next month and I couldn't be more excited. I can never decide whether DOINK! or the Kiss Battle is my favorite event on the fandom calendar, but either way, it's coming, and I'm happy.

4. While we are on fandom things that I'm excited about: a couple of days ago, I came across an Avatar: TLA rewatch community that's on a schedule that will have them finished by the time the new series premieres! [community profile] donebykorra is watching one episode per week, with two-parters watched together; they're up to Book One, Episode 11, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to catch up to them. Anyone interested in doing so with me? I'd been wanting to rewatch the series anyway, and this seems like an excellent excuse.

5. ...I can't think of a fifth. Oh well.
