Despite having written like, one fic the last time I took a [community profile] genprompt_bingo card, I decided to snag another one:

Card under the cut to save your dashes. )

Some possibilities here, although I need to spend more time sitting with the prompts before I pick anything.

Also I signed up for [community profile] fandom_stocking for the first time! I'm not doing any holiday exchanges this year, but this seems like a lower-pressure substitute and I'd like to give it a try. I don't think my stocking is up yet, but I'll link you all when it is. And if you have one, let me know. ;)

This plus two [community profile] areyougame prompts, a couple of flashfic prompts in my Tumblr inbox, and finishing up my DARBB should keep me plenty busy, I think. Too busy? Only time will tell.

So I actually requested this [community profile] genprompt_bingo card at the beginning of the month, but what with one thing and another, I haven't really had time to think about it until now.

Card behind the cut. )

Of course, all the prompts that jump out at me (Dragons! Resurrection! Last Times/Farewells!) don't line up with each other, and [community profile] trope_bingo opens again in January, so I don't know how much progress I'll make. But I'm sure I'll be able to make something out of it.

Graph time )

Specific goals:

1. Write an average of six days per week. Came pretty close.

2. Finish and submit [livejournal.com profile] dragonagebb Reverse Bang fic (due date: July 18th). Submitted a draft, which is now cleaned up enough to post on my posting date next week! Although I will probably do at least one more readthrough.

3. Make serious progress on giveaway fic and the next chapter of Iron Holmes. Not in any way, shape or form. :\ I purposefully put the giveaway fic on hold, because it's too different a DA:O universe for it to occupy my head at the same time as my DABB story; I'll pick that back up this month. I have no excuse for the Iron Holmes. I did poke at Wardens of Ivalice a tiny bit, though.

4. Don't sign up for anything else. Yes, that's a goal. Hold me to it. Summer is for finishing. Yeah, I pretty much blew this one, between Chocobo Races (which, to be fair, I was fairly well committed to already) and picking up a [community profile] trope_bingo card a few days ago. I think the lesson is, don't set negative goals, because really picking up a bingo card would have been the perfect thing to do while my DABB fic was in beta.

Okay, with that in mind, August goals:

1. Write an average of six days per week.

2. Finish Bethany story for [tumblr.com profile] dragonagefanweek. Bethany Fan Week ends tomorrow, but this story got fairly complicated on me, so it might extend beyond that by a few days.

3. Finalize and post DABB story.

4. Write and post at least one story for Trope Bingo.

5. Get back to the giveaway fic.

This sounds like a lot, but #3 shouldn't take too much time, so it's more like half a goal. This should all be doable. I hope.

Remember how not signing up for any other projects was a writing goal for this month?

But there's a new round of [community profile] trope_bingo just opened up.

It's not due until the end of October.

That's okay? Right? (tell me that's not okay)

The chart, it is here. )

Specific goals:

1. Write an average of 5 days per week. I suppose I hit this goal, but it doesn't really feel like it, since the last few days have been completely unproductive.

2. Finish and post giveaway story. I have a complete draft. It's out to beta right now. Hopefully it'll be ready to post soon.

3. Write something for the second round of [livejournal.com profile] dragonagewomen (and ideally combine this with finishing off a [community profile] trope_bingo square). Wrote a draft, hated it, let it sit for a week, opened the file and felt better about it with fresh eyes, polished it up and sent it in today (the due date). So technically yes.

4. Finish up the 30 Day Warden Challenge. Finished yesterday! I credit this and some of the other long posts I worked on entirely for not falling behind on total wordcount in March.

5. Time permitting, start Iron Man/Sherlock story. I did, in fact, start on this. But it needs a plot.

Since it's March, I should probably at least look in on my goals for the year, shouldn't I?

Behind the cut )

Goals for April:

1. Write at least 5 days per week (I have a little travel coming up, so I want to be able to take weekends off).

2. Finish and post my first giveaway fic and my DA Women fic.

3. Write my DOINK! assignment!

4. Get enough of the Iron Man/Holmes crossover written that I can post at least part of it for [community profile] trope_bingo, and plan and write the last two prompts. (I may come back here for ideas later.)

This... is pretty ambitious. Especially considering how blah I've been with writing the last week or so. Hopefully I get over this hump soon.

Chart:

Here it is! )

Specific goals:

1. Write an average of five days per week. For the first time since I started tracking words and giving myself goals, I have surpassed this goal in February! I averaged six days per week. Not too shabby.

2. Write and post my stories for the Tumblr Valentine's Day exchange and [community profile] dragonagewomen. Well... I submitted the Valentine's Day fic a day late, and I have a complete draft of my [community profile] dragonagewomen story, but it's not ready by today's deadline. I used to not blow deadlines in fic projects. Then I discovered an exciting new fandom and overcommitted. Gotta start watching that better.

3. Participate in kiss battles, and possibly run one for Dragon Age. Wrote and posted two stories for the Final Fantasy Kiss Battle and did indeed host a Dragon Age version, which was well received, and I think it got pretty good traffic for the first time out! :D

4. Finish the Dragon Age Alphabet stories. Not so much. I hit these hard out of the gate, but then my quickfic writing time got eaten by the kiss battles, and then I had deadlines, and then... but I have ideas and have been writing notes for future stories, so I hope to keep moving on this and finish in March or maybe April.

Yeah, modding a project on top of everything else made this goals list waaaaay too ambitious. Given that, I think I did okay. Not great, but okay.

March:

1. Write an average of five days per week. (Keep it modest because March, even though I beat this last month.)

2. Finish [community profile] dragonagewomen story, claim for [community profile] areyougame, and remix assignment for [community profile] newgameplus.

3. Work on, and ideally finish, the Dragon Age Alphabet.

Only three, but considering that #2 is actually a list, I think that'll do.

The Final Fantasy Kiss Battle is back!!! Details here. So excited!! :D

(Although I can't get too excited, because I still have to finish my Tumblr DA Valentine's Exchange story, gulp. Must do that first, must do that first... But at least I can leave prompts tomorrow!)

Speaking of Dragon Age and Kiss Battles, don't forget that it's still going strong! Prompts and stories have been trickling in, and I intend to keep actively promoting and modding at least through Saturday. So you have plenty of time, if you haven't gotten a chance to come play yet.
owlmoose: (CJ - make out)
Okay. Let's do this thing. The post for the Dragon Age Kiss Battle is here, and it will open to prompts and fanworks tomorrow morning my time.

Consider this the official promotion request post, and the place to ask questions, and to watch me vibrate with nerves because I've never run a fandom project like this before on my own. >.> Also, if anyone with graphic skills wanted to make a promotional banner or something, I would be all over that because I have no design ability whatsoever.

Whee! Yikes!! Whee!!!

Crossposting note: Because of LJ's recent changes to the comment system, and because the idea of running two simultaneous battles is pretty daunting, I will only be doing this project on the Dreamwidth side. Sorry to anyone for whom this poses a serious issue. Anon comments and OpenID comments are allowed, and Dreamwidth is currently offering freee account creation without invite codes if anyone is interested. Thanks for understanding!

Yeah, so much for that.

There's a Valentine's Day exchange on Tumblr, the [community profile] dragonagewomen challenge, already working on a response for [community profile] ot3_promptfest ([personal profile] wallwalker couldn't have left better KJ-bait if she'd tried), the next round of the Porn Battle coming up at the beginning of next month, halfway through the 30 Days of Dragon Age meme, and though the response to my query about hosting a DA Kiss Battle was fairly small, those who did reply were enthusiastic enough that I'm still seriously considering doing that. Not to mention the Final Fantasy Kiss Battle, if that happens, and I hope it does because I would be all over that, and I imagine that new rounds of [community profile] ff_exchange and [community profile] newgameplus are on the horizon, and soon it'll be time to start thinking about [community profile] megaflare_ff again, and...

And of course I have two major WIPs still in the works, too.

So I have today off work, which means this should be a great time to get some serious time in on some of these projects, right? But instead I spent the morning poking around the Internet, and now I'm half-plotting to start Alim Surana's run through either Awakening or Witch Hunt -- Witch Hunt is more important for his character, I think, but I have this weird compulsion to do these things in order, unless I decide that he washed his hands of the Wardens and decided not to take the offer to serve as Warden-Commander. But he'd probably see that as shirking his responsibility, and there's something appealing about playing Awakening with a Warden who just does. not. want. to be there...

Obsessions are fun. But maybe I can get this one out of my system if I write the ficbit that's clawing at my brain. We'll see.

So one of my favorite events on the Final Fantasy fandom calendar is the Kiss Battle. It's happened every February, in some form or another, for many years now, since 2007 I think? And I dearly hope it runs again this year, because it's always a highlight for me.

The other day, I got to wondering: is there anything similar in Dragon Age fandom?

And if not, should there be?

One thing that gives me pause is the apparent migration of DA fandom to Tumblr. Tumblr is great for a lot of fandom projects, but probably not this one -- it's similar in format to a kinkmeme, and so it depends on threaded comments and replies. Dreamwidth would be the perfect platform (or maybe LJ, but the recent changes to the commenting system make following comment threads wonky at best), but in my experience, there isn't a whole lot of DA fandom activity here, even less than on LiveJournal. Would people even participate if it were hosted on DW?

Anyway, I'm probably putting the cart in front of the horse with this concern; the most relevant question right now is whether a critical mass of people would be interested at all. What do you all think? Or, if such a community/project already exists, please point me there! Thanks. :)

I have just signed up for the Women of Dragon Age Challenge, a project to promote stories, artwork, and fanmixes featuring the awesome female characters of the Dragon Age series.

Sign-ups go through the end of the month, fanworks are due on Leap Day (February 29th), and posting begins March 7th.

I am really excited about this -- there are so many fascinating women in these games, with so much great ground to cover, and the hardest thing is going to be deciding what to write. Anora and Sereda? Isabela and Aveline? Marian and Bethany? Oooh, or maybe something from my FFXII crossover universe, although I sadly didn't bring many canon women over from Thedas, just Elissa, Sigrun, and Leliana. Still, there might be something to work with there. Hmm.

Anyway, come join! And if you have thoughts about which of the above you'd like to see, or other prompt ideas, let me know (or leave them in the prompt post).
